<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract">Traditional food can represent the basis of rural tourism development in developing countries, such as Serbia. A shift in the mindset and behavior of contemporary visitors, who increasingly value authenticity, especially when selecting the food, they eat while traveling, can be seen as a sign of the potential for Serbia's rural areas development. With its demonstration of best practices, the Slow Food movement might be seen as the right option for reviving and expanding this region's rural tourism industry. The purpose of this study was to investigate the variables that affect tourists' motivation for local cuisine as well as the variations in tourists' opinions based on their sociodemographic traits. The study's findings provided insight into how tourists' perspectives varied depending on their sociodemographic traits and the factors that motivated them to visit rural tourist families in Serbia. The findings indicate that attitudes vary depending on the respondents' gender, age, occupation, monthly income, degree of education, and size of dwelling. Serbia has not yet undertaken any studies on the tenets of the Slow food movement. As a result, it makes a substantial contribution to raising awareness of the significance of this issue. This study might be the starting point for additional investigation into the subject of slow travel in the Balkans, which might inspire the development of new travel goods.</dim:field>
