<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract">As tourists’ travel experience expands and they have more choices over travel decisions, modern tourists are becoming more demanding, and the desire to have an authentic and traditional experience during their stay in a destination is becoming more evident. One of the experiences that such visitors seek is local traditional food, which consists of autochthonous products that have been enjoyed in particular areas for generations. The purpose of this study was to see how tourists visiting Western Serbia feel about the necessity to maximise their tourist experience by enjoying local cuisine throughout their stay, but also once they return home. In the first half of 2021, the research was conducted via an online questionnaire. Domestic tourists visiting the Western Serbia region have a great tendency to experience local specialties, according to a sample of 505 respondents. They also highlighted the benefits of buying from local producers, but also a readiness to pay more if the true method of manufacturing traditional food products is officially confirmed. These types of tourism attitudes contribute to promoting sustainable development and creating a destination image. Furthermore, by utilising existing potentials in this way, the local community's economic well-being may be enhanced</dim:field>
