                    <dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract">This paper examines students’ attitudes
towardsthe concept ofsustainable development and the
personal responsibility they have for the future by examining the position of sustainable development in the
higher education system, students’opinions on the ecological crisis, the restriction of natural resources, their
personal attitude towards environmental problems and
the current environmental issues. The results show
that the respondents theoretically know the definition
and determinants of sustainable development well, are
aware of the risks posed by human behavior in relation
to the environment, but they neglect their responsibility
and do not see the need to direct themselves and their
behaviortowards nature conservation and keeping sustainable development in mind. Education for sustainable development is, for now, a theoretical concept, with
no impact on action, and high environmental awareness is not a guarantee of environmentally conscious
and moral behavior.</dim:field>
