<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract">Extensive geological research was conducted in Mongolia’s Dornogovi Province in
2007 and 2008, for uranium exploration purposes. The research project was comprised of
geological mapping, radiometric surveys, exploratory boring and hydrogeological investigations.
Given that registers of water points were not available in the study area, georeferenced
topographic maps at a scale of 1:100,000 were used to identify points of interest for subsequent field work. The locations were toured as part of hydrogeological prospecting and, where
possible, the groundwater temperature, pH, redox potential and conductivity were measured in
situ. Collected water samples were delivered to an accredited laboratory for analyses of 68
elements. The article contains a brief description of the hydrogeological prospecting activity and
an analysis of the results derived from in situ measurements.</dim:field>
