                    <dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract">Considering the safety problems in designing and in operating life / operation of a product - engineering system, the safety level considerations have covered technical, economic and human aspects. The numerous contradictions encountered in the process of analyzing, structuring, designing and operating of engineering systems have been generally resolved by seeking compromise solutions. This paper considers application of TRIZ method, through proposing various decision making principles and qualitative estimations. The underlying base of the method is analysis of safety-related standards and regulations and reports and experiences acquired in operating engineering systems. Application of this method implies increasing safety through the process of bringing a compromise solution, as illustrated in the paper by an adequate engineering system example.</dim:field>
