                    <dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract">Service orientation has become a dominant design approach for achieving higher levels of interoperability. This paper presents methodology for creating a new service oriented framework, which supports the modelling of interoperable software systems. The created, SOFI framework is derived from the well-known Zachman framework. The SOFI framework integrates and presents different artefacts’ levels of abstraction, depicting views on the system that is modelled. Integral parts of the SOFI framework are recommendations for its implementation. The implementation of the SOFI framework in the area of the searching and retrieving cultural heritage artefacts is presented.</dim:field>
