<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract">There are many indicators that may be used to assess the competitiveness of tourism destinations. Many authors and existing theoretical and practical models consider and highlight natural resources as one of the crucial indicators of destination competitiveness. However, simply having resources is not enough for a tourism destination to be truly competitive in the tourism market. These resources must be valorised, that is, transformed into tourist attractions that will attract visitors to the destination. The paper will explain the current state of the TOURCOMSERBIA project's methodology for continuous evaluation of Serbia's competitiveness as a tourism destination, with a specific emphasis on natural resources and their degree of tourist appeal. The model was created in four stages: extensive literature study, the Delphi approach, pilot testing, and model set and validation. The TOURCOMSERBIA study examined a wide range of literature about tourism competitiveness. According to this, natural resources are one of the most prevalent indicators of competitiveness and those results will be emphasized in this paper. The purpose of this study is to highlight the importance of valorising natural resources in the context of increasing the competitiveness of a tourism destination in the worldwide tourist market.</dim:field>
