Njegic n the overall economic development of many countries, tourism is recognized as a significant economic activity. Howewer, Serbia has not yet reached the level of tourism development which we are expected in the near future. The acute problem in the tourism development of Serbia, whose clarification arises in the design of this study, lies in unequal tourism development at the regional level. Namely, the aim of this study was to point out the degree of this regional disparities existence and differences in tourism development of Serbia. It was started from the basic hypothesis that there is a noticeable disparity in the level of regional tourism development and that such a situation greatly affects the overall tourism development. Tourism is a universal phenomenon that has implications for all spheres of economic development, as it was confirmed by quantitative indicators. Turism is a factor of the resurgence of many economic and non-economic activities as well as the development of underdeveloped areas, the stimulation of employment, and important factor in the further development of economic International relations. As a result of this research it was concluded that there is an apparent independence of each region in Serbia and that there is a need for inter-regional connectivity with the aim to Serbia will become one of the primary destinations on the European and world tourist market.
