<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract">An appearance of the radioactive anomaly, discovered in the vicinity of Jelovica, dated back to 1957.
The site is located north of the village of Jelovica, along the road from Jelovica to Široka Luka. It
features a full spread of Late Permian/Early Triassic multicolored sandstones, which include all the
typical lithologic units. The Riphean‐Cambrian green schist, exposed in the valley of the Jelovica
River, are transgressed by conglomeratic red sandstones alternating with red and gray siltstone.
Towards the top, this so‐called Colorful Series transitions into marl and limestone.
The series of multicolored sandstones at this site is comprised of medium‐grain red to gray
sandstones. Red color is predominant in the lower part of the series, giving way in the upward
direction to greenish‐gray sediments. This is especially the case with siltstones; there are red
siltstones at the bottom, made up of packages that are up to 4 m thick, and greenish‐gray interbeds
at the top of the series.</dim:field>
