Nikolić M. Pandurov The geologic framework, tectonic assemblage, magmatism and rock alterations of Mt. Golija are such that it is predisposed to deposits of non-ferrous metals, iron, tungsten and other metallic and non-metallic minerals. The objective of the research reported in this paper was to identify aeromagnetic anomalies and undertake prospecting investigations in selected areas, in search of any previously unknown or undetected occurrences of metallic mineral ores. Already known ore-bearing areas were also expected to expand if occurrences were detected in only one part of the selected study area or were solitary within that area. Without doubt, Tertiary igneous rocks have basically caused the anomalous field on Mt. Golija. Skarn ore with magnetite was also a likely contributor, but to a lesser extent. The involvement of volcanites was expected to be somewhat more pronounced through the influence of covered, younger sub-volcanic intrusions. There was an evident effect of volcanites, with a reversed magnetic field, which was manifested by an individualized negative anomaly at Muhovo. Most of the samples were collected at the following localities: Tikveš – Truba, Ostatija – Biser Voda and Radulovac – Kolesnička River. Ore mineralizations in the study area were found to be diverse by type, transformation and alteration of detected minerals. In effect, sampling was undertaken to verify the recorded anomalies.
