Весић Васовић М. Радојичић P. Popović З. Нешић Abstract: The selection of development investment projects is one of the most important decisions in industrial production. This paper presents an example of multi criteria ranking for six development investment projects in the conditions of the industrial production specific for Serbia. A methodology of multi-criteria decision making applied in the selection of development investment projects for new production capacities and modernization of the existing ones, in the function of business process improvement, is presented here. Multiple-criteria ranking of alternatives was carried out using the widely applied PROMETHEE method with software support VisualPROMETHEE. By using the proposed approach in solving various problems of multi-criteria decision-making, a clear idea on total favourability of one alternative, compared with other ones, can be obtained, which provides the decision-maker with more arguments for explaining his/her decision on advantage of the selected alternative. The paper points out some possibilities for a decision maker to control the procedure of multi-criteria decision making and to participate in the selection of a final solution.
