<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract">The main subject of this article is the examination of the quantitative factors that are important for attracting foreign direct investments (FDI) in Serbia. The research is comprised of mathematical and statictical methods and case study.
Considering the fact that the number one motive for investing capital is profit and that the long term profit is more dependent on overall economic stability which reduces the risks than on the current growth rate, this article displays the results of multiple regression. During the course of composing independent variables of the regressive analysis, the number one concern were the efficient boundaries of investments and the optimal risk versus potential gain ratio. Dependent variable, FDI, is determined by the influence of independent variables: the growth rate of the current GDP, the inflation rate and the current account balance. Even though, totally different tendencies were noted for the bigger countries when compared to the smaller countries, general consensus is that the inflation rate is the deciding factor when it comes to attracting FDI, for most countries.
In an attempt to find a clear and concise way to gather data on the general thoughts of the foreign investors, on the major advantages that Serbia has for attracting foreign investments, but also it’s major weaknesses, a case study was done, and based on that- a SWOT analysis.
Key words: attractiveness for FDI, multiple regression, profit, current GDP, inflation rate, current account balance, SWOT analysis, questionnaire</dim:field>
