Plećić The maintenance of major sports events and manifestations stimulates significantly the development, promotion and improvement of the current market image of tourist destinations, in the role of the official hosts. Whether it's about the facilities and supporting infrastructure, built for the needs of the organization and implementation of competition, or the achievement of economic and financial effects through mass tourist traffic, it is an unarguable fact of direct influence on the social system of the community. The aim of this paper is to point to particular aspects of connectivity between the realized effects of the organization and the immediate benefit for the local population, at some specific examples of events and manifestations held throughout the world. A special emphasis was placed on the construction and the introduction of new attractive contents, enrichment of tourist resources and capacity, and the resulting expansion of the total tourist destinations offer.
