<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract">The aim of this study is to highlight the impact of Law on Gender Equality of the Republic of Serbia on the attitudes
of the student population toward gender-sensitive language. After a theoretical introduction and an overview of
basic terms related to gender equality and gender-sensitive language, the paper provides a review of previous
research conducted by the author on the attitudes of students regarding the use of gender-sensitive language in
2015 and 2021. This is done to depict the attitudes before the adoption of Law on Gender Equality. For the purpose
of analyzing attitudes after the law’s adoption, a new study was conducted in 2024, with the aim of analyzing
whether the interpretation of the law, particularly its provisions related to the use of gender-sensitive language,
has had any positive or negative effects on the speakers of the Serbian language. Following the research review, a
comparative analysis was performed to assess the potential impact of Law on Gender Equality on the awareness
of the student population regarding the use of gender-sensitive language. All research was conducted at
Singidunum University, among male and female students in their first, second, third, and fourth year of
undergraduate studies in the English Studies program. The research employed quantitative analysis and utilized
anonymous questionnaires with multiple-choice questions, open-ended questions, and Likert scale questions. The
research results show that Law on Gender Equality had a certain influence related to students’ opinion and attitudes
towards the use of gender-sensitive language.</dim:field>
